Make all subfolders and items in a private folder actually private

In the ZMI go to
  • Portal workflow -> Contents (tab) -> Plone workflow -> States (tab) -> Visible (link) -> Permissions (tab)
  • Uncheck the ‘Access contents information’ and ‘View’ boxes for the Anonymous user only
  • Do the same for Folder workflow:
  • Portal workflow -> Contents (tab) -> Folder workflow -> States (tab) -> Visible (link) -> Permissions (tab)
  • Uncheck the ‘Access contents information’ and ‘View’ boxes for the Anonymous user only
To update existing items that were created before this was done go to:
  • Portal workflow and scroll to the bottom of the screen
  • Click the ‘Update security settings’ button
