Introduction
bFlocking is a tool to simulate 'lane' based traffic flow in Maya. It is *loosely* based on the theories of cellular automata and wolfram's rule 184.
bTraffic has been written in Python specifically for Maya 8.5+. Version 0.2 (below) shows an example of the generation of a road and the assignment of 3 different vehicles to the simulation:
Below is a video demo of version 0.1 showing very early work on developing bTraffic using particles, surfaces and custom written behaviours. Future versions will have lane changing and user interface options to define the number of road lanes, left or right hand drive, traffic density, roundabouts and controls to add traffic flow elements (traffic lights etc).
demonstration of generated traffic flow
demonstration of road setup and real-time traffic flow playback with outer lane changing behaviour
demonstration of inner and outer lane changing behaviour as well as individually varied speeds
